The brief
Build a simple cost model for a fictional weekend workshop. Recommend a ticket price and show when the workshop breaks even. All amounts are CAD; ignore tax.
Your source packet
Fictional source notes for this exercise. No outside client data.
Room hire: $120. Materials: $6 per attendee. Payment fee: 3% of ticket revenue. Maximum capacity: 20 attendees. Compare ticket prices of $15 and $20 at attendance levels of 8, 12, and 20. Only whole tickets can be sold. There are no other costs in this simplified scenario.
What to deliver
- A spreadsheet or table with revenue, fees, costs, and profit for all six cases
- The minimum whole-ticket attendance to break even at each price
- A 150–250 word recommendation explaining the tradeoff
Check your understanding
- Is the processing fee a percentage of profit or revenue?
- Why must break-even attendance be rounded up?
